GLOG Blessings
This blog has just become 3 years old. What fun! I wanted to do a 3rd anniversary post, but I'm a few days late, so I figured I would callback to a post made EXACTLY 3 years ago TODAY: GLOG Curse-Classes.
I am a better, happier person than 3 years ago. Is that important here? Yes of course, because it means now I must write some BLESSINGS.
I've always thought delta templates were cool, and simultaneously I've bucked at the 4 template limit. So consider these free-floating.
Fairy's Aid
You might get this blessing when you free a pixie from an iron cage, or from saving an elvish princelet from an unfair contract.
A minuscule fairy follows you around. Its glamour is based on the fairy you helped to get this blessing (helping out a prudish beetle-man will grant you a fairy with four gossamer wings and an insectoid carapace). This fairy does its best to improve your life, within its abilities (it is dexterous, for instance, but struggles to lift a single coin). It sings while it works, a sound like tinkling glass in another room.
You can ask the fairy to do something for you, though you must ask in rhyme. It will try its best, though it will not stray far from your side. It is good at sewing, and bad at most other things.
By the same rules, you can ask the fairy to die for you. It will, of course, popping in a puff of glitter and sparkles. This grants +1 to your next roll, and then this blessing is lost.
Dwarfcoat
There's one way to get this blessing: offer service to a dwarf under a mountain, get them to agree, and ask for "the old boon" as their end of the bargain. They might nod sagely, or take offense, or laugh heartily, but they will accept. Once you've fulfilled your end of the deal, they will dump out a vessel of liquor (don't ask what kind) over your head. It will coat you, and even if you wash 100 times, you remain dwarfcoated.
You smell faintly of sweat, smoke, alcohol. You no longer need to brush your teeth, as they harden to invincible little white rocks. You no longer need a skincare routine, as you always have a ruddy glow. You no longer need torches, as you can see a short distance in the dark.
This blessing is lost if you deal dishonestly with a dwarf.
Abjuration
You might get this blessing when you accept the token of a mage who's fallen deeply in love with you, or from a wizard who has come to see you as a true friend.
You get 1 very special Magic Die. If you have your own MD, this one stands apart. It will never replenish. You can use it as part of your own spells, but even if you don't cast spells, it guards you. When you make a saving throw against something that could kill or maim you, roll this very special MD and add +[sum] to your roll. Every time this happens, you glow fiercely, and you feel the presence of the mage who so blessed you.
Ignored by Ashmadeva
You might get this blessing from service to the lord of snakes and darkness, from a magic cloak that renders you invisible to the god of evil, or when you hoodwink the father of lies to leave you alone for a short time.
You cannot see in the dark, but you can act as if you can (no penalties to rolls). You are not immune to poison, but you can smell its presence in a drink or meal. Illusions and glamours work on you, but you can discern when what you're experiencing is an illusion, so...
This blessing is short-lived. Its duration is case-by-case, but Ashmadeva always catches wind of you again. Triggers for this include encountering one of his lying priests, visiting a false temple, or rolling a nat 20. When he notices you, Ashmadeva sends 3 curses upon you. Know that you will be deceived on the road, you will be attacked by a serpent, and you will lose your senses at a pivotal moment.
