Finishing Campaigns
Short post today. Last night, over the course of 5 fantastic hours, my online game group brought our campaign Wild Sky to a close. The final session had it all: reunions with old companions, balls-to-the-wall frantic action, armies and fleets clashing, longtime adversaries defeated, dragons...
We had to say goodbye to one of the four PCs. Telymere, you'll live forever in our hearts, even if you are now joined with the Kingdom of Death. For one shining moment, the old wizard was young again...
We spent the last ~30 minutes on epilogues. Everyone briefly described what they were up to in the years after the final battle, then we ended on a beautiful scene of a 5 years later reunion of the 3 surviving PCs at the 6th birthday of a child they had rescued way back.
There's no way to wrap up everything neatly in a 30+ session campaign. Some small threads are left unexplored, some tales unsung. But, in the words of one player, "My cup is so full." Despite the amount of time we'd already been on a discord call, we stayed for many minutes chatting about favorite moments, unexpected events, and our general love and gratitude for one another.
To my players, and any friends who helped me shape the story along the way with their advice: THANK YOU!!!
