The Assassin

"Move like an animal, feel the kill" - Some blonde guy

A - Tension//Sneak Attack
B - Crowd Work
C - Heightened Senses
D - Blend

Tension [A]

This work has a way of putting you on edge. During an infiltration, whenever A) 10 minutes pass, B) you encounter someone, or C) you fail a roll, you get +1 Nerves. Every point of Nerves grants +1 to Stealth, -1 to every other roll. Flip this template to Sneak Attack when you reveal your presence by attacking someone.

Sneak Attack [A]

Add your current Nerves to the attack and damage roll. After you make the attack, succeed or fail, you now add Nerves to rolls made to escape. Every roll you make reduces Nerves by 1, until you eventually reach 0.

Crowd Work [B]

While you have the Tension template, add your current Nerves to any rolls made to deceive, trick, or distract people.

Heightened Senses [C]

With a quick glance, you can tell if people have recently passed through here, and how many, and if they were armored. By training your ears for a moment, you can tell if someone is approaching this place, and from where. By pressing your hand to a wall or door, you can tell if any hearts beat on the other side.

Blend [D]

If someone is pursuing you and you break line of sight, they'll race right past you without a second glance if you can stand still and look even remotely inconspicuous.

Notes

This class is specifically an assassin, you know, a guy what kills people, and it wouldn't be great in a dungeon-crawl or some kind of hunting episode. But I think it would be fun in a more social/political/intrigue type game, where you have a lot of ways to get info, a lot of avenues of attack. Maybe an urbancrawl game? Give us your thoughts!

In no particular order. These aren't reviews, but I did want to point you in the direction of more CONTENT from cool people. I might update this if more people hop aboard the BANDVVAGON.

The Church Assassin is a very cool guy, guided by prophecy and fate to luck into success...which will be a running theme among some of the BANDVVAGON entries here.

Grackle Court's Assassin lifts my spirits with an honest-to-god Flip Template. Not one, but several! I haven't seen these in a while, but I always thought they were the coolest piece of tech this side of the GLOG...Out the gate, this class has some strong abilities and stronger vibes. The second template makes me want to put Saves vs Death in games I run! Plus: it was all a dream!

400 independent bathrooms' Assassin is straightforward and awesomely effective. My favorite part is the end, where guidance is given to Referees/GMs about how to rule this powerful ability...

Deus' Assassin returns us to the world of the FIVEY Rogue conversion, what with the cipher scores and suchnot. The good old "collect facts to collect kills" mechanic (another favorite) also appears! To top it off, this one has 4 (FOUR) unique archetypes, each a class in their own right. There's even a hidden Wizard AND a hidden fighter. Cool.

Phlox's Homo Ferox won me over off the bat with the Gavrilo Princip-esque Infamy template. I love the idea of the violent person not as a cool indomitable uniquely badass figure, but rather someone shady who got lucky, once. The other templates hammer this home, then we arrive at Old News, a sort of graduation ability. Nice!

The Assassin over at pathunending uses the beloved Titles system, which, well, I always like evocative titles for things, so that's a win right there. I'm not familiar with the structure, but at a glance it looks like a bunch of cool abilities that stay on theme. Shoutouts Grandmother/Grandfather!

The Guild Assassin has (in my mind) the simplest cut-to-the-quick "kill a dude" ability. I'm all about that! An altered "collect facts" ability appears, and a crowd-surfing one that puts me back in Brotherhood right quick. Extra points for discussing the discussion that led to designing it this way!

Everyone gets points! BANDVVAGON!
