Kludge Kauldron in 2024
So! Kludge Kauldron started in late October 2023. It's now 2024. What's coming this year?
NecronomiCOM
Inspired by my love-from-afar of Best Case Scenario and my love/hate relationship with skirmish games, NecronomiCOM is an upcoming cooperative tactics game about spec-ops teams blasting eldritch threats to bits.
It's likely some of my previous work for the horror setting that doesn't exist yet will get repurposed on this project, hopefully as missions that could stand alone or be linked into a campaign.
Playtesting starts January 7, and the plan is to self-publish for a handful of dollars before the end of the year!
BREAK ORBIT!
Have you ever looked at one of the super cool mech games from recent years and thought to yourself, "What if this, but spaceships?"
If you're one of those lucky few, you can look forward to the fruition of one of my oldest brainworms: BREAK ORBIT!, a pen & paper (or more likely VTT) space combat game that foregrounds stealth, detection, and maneuver over trading broadsides.
BREAK ORBIT! has a lot more ground to cover before it's ready for playtesting, so expect a post here and there about its ongoing development. If it's ready in 2024, great. If not, so it goes.
Dead Aliens
The last project I'd like to announce for 2024 is Dead Aliens: a system-agnostic series of archaeological survey documents from (presumably) extinct alien civilizations. This is the kind of thing you could easily drop into your game of Mothership or Death in Space as inspiration for your crew's next adventure, or just as a bit of set dressing.
The first couple entries for Dead Aliens are being drafted, and haven't reached layout. Still, since each entry will likely be under 5 pages, you can expect the first entry to drop sometime in April.
